ONLINE CONSUMER MEDIATION CENTRE PRIVACY POLICY STATEMENT

 

This Privacy Policy Statement (hereinafter referred to as “Policy”) constitute a legally binding agreement and govern use of the Online Consumer Mediation Centre, available on www.onlinemediationcenter.ac.in website (the “Platform“), which is provided, maintained and operated by Online Consumer Mediation Centre (the “Centre”) located at Academic Block, 2nd Floor, National Law School of India University, Nagarbhavi, Bengaluru. Its provisions may be enforced against the User under applicable law.

Please read and review the Policy before accessing or using the Platform. By accessing or using the Platform, you acknowledge that you have read, understood and agreed to be legally bound by the Policy without limitation or qualification. The Policy is subject to change; please review the Policy each time you access and/or use the Platform.

1. Acceptance of Terms.

Use of this Platform is voluntary. By using this Platform, you consent to the collection and use of your non-personal information and personal sensitive data as described in this Policy. This Policy only governs the use and disclosure of information collected through this Platform.

2. Non-Personal Information.

The Centre automatically collects information about your Internet connection, including but not limited to:

  • The Internet Protocol (IP) address and name of the Internet domain you used to access the Internet;
  • The IP address of the website from which you linked directly to the Platform;
  • The date and time and duration you accessed the Platform;
  • The pages you visited; and
  • The web browser and operating system you used to access the Platform.

This information (“non-personal information”) does not identify you personally. The Centre uses this non-personal information to monitor the effectiveness of this Platform and to consider potential improvements to this Platform.

3. Personal Sensitive Data

The Centre may request that you to voluntarily provide certain personal sensitive data to participate in the password-protected areas, download information, engage in payment transactions, or for other lawful purposes. The Centre does not collect any personal sensitive data about you when you visit this website unless you give the Centre such information.

The Centre is subject to the Information Technology Act, 2008 governing data protection in possessing, dealing and handling of personal sensitive information.

Unless there are restrictions on use of your personal sensitive data or unless the Centre tells you otherwise, the Centre (or third parties engaged by the Centre) may use your personal sensitive data to:

  • Contact you;
  • Conduct research or surveys;
  • Respond to subpoenas, court orders or legal process; and
  • Establish or exercise the Centre’s legal rights or defend against legal claims.

The Centre may disclose your personal sensitive data to other authorized users of this Platform. The Centre may use third party service providers and suppliers to facilitate this Platform and the services provided by the Centre, and they may have access to the personal sensitive data. Authorized users are the Centre’s employees or third parties who have been granted access and have a need to know the information collected in order to fulfil the Centre’s mission. The Centre may also use cookies to track information about the pages you visit within this Platform to help the Centre examine the effectiveness of this Platform or the Centre’s content.

The Centre takes all reasonable steps to protect the security of the information that you provide to the Centre. While the Centre strives to protect your information through measures that protect the Centre’s systems, such security cannot be guaranteed. Consequently, the Centre does not insure or warrant the security of information you transmit, and you do so at your own risk.

The Centre may change this Policy from time to time. In case of such changes, the Centre will post the revised Policy on this Platform. The Centre encourages you to review this Privacy Policy Statement periodically.
